Heart Journey Leadership Development
Conducted by HeartWork Community in the Netherlands, 40 Afghan women's rights activists are enrolled in this high-level leadership development program. The training starts with an "inner peace journey" to the heart so that leaders can lead with integrity, in alignment with their core values. From there, participants will learn a set of skills including advocacy, communication, and management.

Curriculum Development
FFTA has identified a need for quality educational materials in the areas of peace, critical thinking, character development, and mental wellness which are specific to the needs of Afghan people. Further, because 81% of Afghan people lack internet access, there is a need for printed materials and their distribution. We are using our model to develop this process using our leadership development course, conducted by HearthWork Community. Materials created using this program will be distributed inside Afghanistan to educational, community and religious leaders using existing networks inside the country that we maintain relationships with.
Tailor Training Workshop
We have a proposal to fund a Tailor Training Program in District 17 in Kabul. This training program would train women in tailoring and entreprenuial skills, allowing them to take in work in their homes, potentially creating a path to income despite current restrictions to their movement and employment. The course will teach tailoring skills through the sewing of a school uniform. These uniforms can be sold to/through Omid Mehr Parvaran Charitable School, creating income to allow the program to fund itself.
Charitable School
We have identified a piece of land in an area outside of Kabul where we would like to build a new charitable school using the same model used by our co-founder Ahmad Reshad Attai to direct the formation of Omed Mehr Paravan Charitable school
Intracountry Cultural Exchange
In conjunction with the Council of Preachers inside Afghanistan, moderate and progressive religious scholars and activists will travel to meet with community leaders at the district level in order to open dialogues, provide education, and provide tools for the prevention and rehabilitation of violent radical extremism in their communities.
Afghan Scholars Cohort Program
This program will arrange for scholarships for qualified Afghan students at colleges and universities outside of Afghanistan. Recipients will form cohorts for support and provided with tools they can use to create and execute plans for using their educations to benefit their community.
Websites for Activist Organizations
A common tactic used to disrupt organizing efforts is to create physical distance between leaders and the members of their group. This tactic is particularly disruptive to grassroots and community level organizing which tends to rely on physical proximity to engage in communication and offer activities. In an effort to offset the harm caused by this type of disruption, Food for Thought Afghanistan is offering custom website builds to Afghan Rights Organizations. These sites can be used to maintain cohesion of identity, leadership, and member activities for organizations during times of disruptions. These sites can also be used as a tool for expanding the organizations' credibility, capacities and to build a broader base of support and participation in their activities.
