Rahima was a student at Kabul University and a prominent member of the Women of Hope protest movement. For leading a protest after the Taliban banned women from universities, she was arrested,
tortured, and blackmailed with explicit photos taken in detention.
She and her family fled to Pakistan, where she continued advocating for justice—until she was attacked again, this time by unknown assailants. The trauma, constant fear, and ongoing risks have taken a serious toll.
Now in hiding in Pakistan, her family seeks safety and a new beginning in Brazil, where Rahima hopes to finish her studies and contribute to civil society.
