Nargis is a women’s rights activist and award-winning photojournalist. Her bold documentation of women’s protests led to multiple death threats and physical assaults by the Taliban. In September 2021, Taliban agents attacked her home, injuring her sister and attempting to arrest her. Since fleeing, her family has suffered multiple traumas—including the killing of her brother under suspicious circumstances in Pakistan.
Now in hiding in Pakistan, the extended family lives in overcrowded, emotionally strained conditions. Children are out of school, elders require medical care, and the entire family suffers under constant threat of deportation. Despite everything, Nargis still speaks out for justice.
The family urgently needs support to find sanctuary in Brazil, where they hope to heal and contribute to society through their medical, journalistic, and academic skills.
